Our Mission

We built Bay Area Board & Care because we couldn't find a trustworthy resource when looking for care for our own family. Here's what drives us.

The problem with existing sites

Most senior care referral sites — A Place for Mom, Caring.com, and similar services — operate as lead-generation businesses. They charge homes $3,000–$5,000 per resident placed and sell your contact information to multiple operators simultaneously.

The result: you enter your phone number looking for help and immediately receive calls from a dozen facilities competing for your business. The family's needs come second to the referral business.

Our approach

Free browsing

Families always browse for free. No account, no email, no upsell.

Direct contact

You call the operator directly. We never intercept or resell your contact info.

No broker fees

We are not a placement agency. We do not take referral fees from families or operators.

No spam calls

Your number is not shared, sold, or stored. We never even see it.

What we show that others hide

We surface CDSS violation history, substantiated allegations, and real license numbers on every listing — not as a way to stigmatize facilities, but because families deserve to know.

Sites funded by operator referral fees have a structural incentive to hide negative information. We do not have that conflict.

How we sustain this

We charge facility operators $250/month for a featured listing — verified photos, priority placement in search results, and direct phone prominence. Families always browse free. Featured status does not affect the data we show; violation history is displayed regardless of listing tier.

Our values

  • Transparency — show the data, explain the methodology, admit the limits
  • Dignity — treat seniors and families with the respect they deserve
  • Family first — every product decision starts with "does this help the family?"
