Data Accuracy

We take data quality seriously. Here's exactly where our data comes from, what we show, and how to verify it independently.

This directory is for informational purposes only. Always verify a facility's current licensing status directly with California CDSS before making care decisions. License status can change between our updates.

Source

All facility data is sourced from the California CDSS Community Care Licensing database. This is a public dataset published by the California Department of Social Services and is the authoritative record for licensed residential care facilities in the state.

What we show

  • Facility name — as registered with CDSS
  • Address — from the CDSS record
  • Phone number — from the CDSS record
  • License number — the unique CDSS identifier for the facility
  • Capacity — the licensed maximum number of residents
  • Inspection visits — total number of CDSS inspection visits on record
  • Substantiated allegations — complaints confirmed during CDSS inspections

Refresh cycle

We update our dataset periodically from CDSS. Data may lag behind the official CDSS records by days or weeks. License status, phone numbers, violation counts, and capacity can all change between our updates. The most current data is always available directly from CDSS.

How to verify

Visit ccld.ca.gov and search by facility name or license number. This is the most authoritative, real-time source for licensing status, inspection history, and enforcement actions.
